How this site works

Pwani 2050 is a plan written by the people it concerns: county and national government officers, civil society organisations, researchers, businesses and community groups across Kenya's coast. They write and argue in the reading room, a wiki with talk pages, revision history and reviewers.

Humans write, the librarian shelves

Behind this site is a small team of software agents that act as a librarian. The librarian never writes or rewrites an article. It catalogues what the community has approved, cross-references it, notices gaps and contradictions for people to settle, and lays the result out here. If a page reads oddly, the wording is the authors' own and the place to fix it is the reading room, through the links on every page.

Only what the community has approved is published

A page reaches this site only after a community reviewer has approved a specific revision of it. Drafts, discussion and unreviewed edits stay in the reading room. Every page here names its contributors, its reviewer, the date of approval and the exact revision it was published from.

Disagreement is recorded, not resolved

Where stakeholders disagree, their positions are shown side by side, attributed and dated, as they stated them. The commons does not decide who is right; it makes the landscape of positions visible so that people can negotiate from a shared map.

Contributed documents

Decks, reports, spreadsheets and recordings contributed through the reading room are holdings on the same footing as articles. Their text is extracted so it can be searched and cited, page by page, and the original file is always one click away.

Content is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0 unless a page says otherwise. The underlying documents follow the Open Knowledge Format, a plain-markdown convention any tool can read, and will be available to other agents and to your own AI assistant through a service entrance in a later phase. This site is built with Open Knowledge Commons, open-source software that any community can run for its own topic.
